Dangote Cement Factories in Nigeria

Dangote has about 3 cement factories in Nigeria today. In these factories, cements are being sold at wholesale prices. It’s cheaper to buy cement from any of these factories. The three factories include; Obajana Cement Factory, Ibese Cement Factory, and the third and oldest one is Benue Cement Factory.

Benue Cement Factory

This cement factory is actually the very first and oldest cement factory built by Dangote Group in 2007. This factory which is located in Gboko Benue state has a production capacity of 4.0Mta.

Ibese Cement Factory

This is a very important factory to Dangote because from this cement factory, Dangote exports considerable 50kg bags of cement to other countries. The cement factory serves Lagos, Ogun and other South Western states in Nigeria. Ibese cement factory has a production capacity of 12.0 Mta as at 2025

Obajana Cement Factory

This is the largest of the three Dangote cement factories in Nigeria. The factory was commissioned in 2008. Today, this factory has a total production capacity of 16.25Mta and a total of 2370 trailers is currently owned by the factory. The factory is located in Obajana in Kogi state.

It’s reported that in Obajana cement factory has limestone reservation totaling of about 647 million tons that will last for about 45 years for the factory. This will ensure that the cement factory doesn’t lack limestone for the next 45 years.

Dangote Vs BUA Cement

If you want to build house, you have a choice of choosing between Dangote, BUA and Elephant Supaset Cement. They’re all good choice of cement. BUA and Dangote are high quality cement which are favorites among Nigerian builders and bricklayers.

However, based on my experience, I’ll make the following submissions;

  • In terms of block moulding, BUA cement is better. This is so because during block molding when you use lets say 50kg bag of BUA cement to 7 wheelbarrows of sand, it’ll still have that more cement-filled mixture look than when you use Dangote cement in same quantity of sand.
  • In terms of Chucking, flooring and plastering, I’ll recommend Dangote because it has proven to be very cohesive and powerful.
  • The price of BUA cement is slightly higher than that of Dangote cement.
  • Both Dangote and BUA are very powerful and strong cement products in Nigeria
