How to Import Cars into Nigeria

- Get your Form M from the bank

When you have got the documents listed in (10) above, submit all to your bank. The bank collects it and send it to COTECNA for issuance of PAAR (Pre-Arrival Assessment Report). When the PAAR is ready, your bank collects it from COTECNA and informs you and asks you to come for it.
When you have collected the PAAR, then you’ll sure need a clearing agent in Nigeria to proceed from here. You’ll have to hand over the documents to your clearing agent.

Clearance Procedure at Apapa port
You’ll surely need an agent to clear your Lexus RX 350 from the port. The truth remains the fact that, if you’re not an agent, customs and other government agencies won’t attend to you. Below are the clearance procedure;
- After collecting the PAAR from your client, you have to work out the customs duty using the correct HS code (Harmonized System codes)
- Go to customs to get the Single Goods Declaration (SDG) Form

- Attach the payment receipt to the SGD form, and other relevant documents like bill of laden, Parking list, PAAR, purchasing Invoice, Combined certificate of value and origin. after that, proceed to DTI to trigger selectivity channels.
- The agent goes to book the physical examination, on the day the physical examination is scheduled, the agent goes to customs to obtain the customs examination form and fill it before he takes them to where the car is.
